The Voices Behind the Stories

Marcus Begonia

I’m a typical 9am to 6pm corporate staff who is into a broad range of interests and enjoys traveling, fitness, martial arts, reading, motor cycling, biking and a lot of things but most especially, enjoys sweet solitude. Late 2017, I started to travel solo on a budget and continued doing DIY trips in the Philippines mainly to keep the cost low, frequency moderate, the pocket happy and of course, maintain the sanity. Seldom do I travel abroad as I aim to visit much as I can the different provinces in the Philippines, there’s so much to see!

Little did I know that I’ll be into traveling until quarter life crisis hit me hard right in the face. So yeah, here I am like a predator in the wild closely waiting to pounce on the next Piso fare sale and big discounts. If it is less than a thousand, consider it booked! To turn these travels into a memoir, I have with me my handy entry level Canon M10, GoPro Hero 5, Samsung S7E and an old HP Elitebook.

Why I do this? Simply to share budget friendly tips and advice on DIY trips for the common office workers out there like me.

A hydrophile, is a molecule or other molecular entity that is attracted to water… or, what I would also use to describe myself. I am an avid scuba diver (PADI Advance Open Water Diver), occasional free diver (AIDA 2), aspiring marine biologist, and loves any activity that has to do with being in the water. My hobby for scuba diving also gave me the opportunity to travel around the Philippines and eventually opened up options to travel internationally.

During my free time, I read a lot of famous travel blogs we know today and get ideas from them on my next destination. I am now writing a blog of my own to follow in the footsteps of those who came before me, and have inspired me to travel the globe. I hope that my humble stories may inspire others to love the adventure as much as I have.

I will be using my Fujifilm XA3, GoPro Hero 5, and my Samsung S7 Edge to document my journey. Have fun reading as much as I had fun writing them.
